ATC summons Imran Khan today in terrorism case

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has summoned former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at 12:00 pm in a terrorism case registered against him for allegedly threatening a female judge, ARY News reported on Tuesday. Additional session Judge Raja Hassan Jawad heard the former premier’s interim bail petition in a terrorism case registered against him for allegedly threatening a female judge in a PTI rally held on August 20. Meanwhile, four more provisions – Sections 506, 504, 186 and 188 – have been included in the case registered against Imran Khan. Pakistan reports 219 Covid-19 cases as positivity rate drops

KARACHI: Pakistan has reported 219 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s positivity rate dropped to 1.24 percent, ARY News reported on Thursday, quoting the National Institute of Health (NIH). According to the statistics issued by National Institute of Health (NIH), a total of 17,628 Covid-19 diagnostic tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, out of which 219 came back positive. Turkiye planes carrying relief goods arrives in Pakistan

KARACHI: Turkiye continues to send humanitarian assistance to Pakistan for flood-hit victims as two more planes carrying flood relief items reached Karachi on Thursday, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) told, ARY News reported.  According to a statement issued by a CAA spokesperson, two planes filled with flood-relief items reached the Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Thursday. The planes carry relief items such as blankets, tents and edibles, they added. So far, eight flights carrying relief goods have reached Karachi airport from Turkiye. Overall 90 tons of relief goods have been donated to Pakistan. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan vowed that donations will be spent on the rehabilitation of flood-hit Pakistanis in a transparent manner, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Met predicts further rains in flood-hit Sindh in September

Karachi: The Meteorological department (MET) has predicted more rainfall in multiple regions of Sindh including Tharparkar, Umerkot and Badin, ARY News reported.  According to the data provided by the Met Department two more low-pressure systems are expected to enter Sindh causing rainfall in multiple districts of the province. 20 to 30% more rainfall is expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot and Badin, they added. Sindh govt removes administrators of 23 districts

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Tuesday removed administrators in 23 districts except for Karachi, ARY News reported. According to the notification, the provincial government has removed administrators of 23 districts while deputy commissioners were given the additional charge of administrators. The deputy commissioners of 23 districts of Sindh including Hyderabad, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Dadu, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Naushehro Feroz, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur and Jacobabad, have been appointed as administrators of their respective districts. KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Raja Azhar Khan has sent a defamation notice to Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Amir Khan regarding a case related to a clash at the political party’s office in Karachi’s Korangi, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The legal notice stated that MQM-P’s Amir Khan had levelled false allegations against Raja Azhar Khan for his alleged involvement in a clash at the political party’s office in Korangi. ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Technology (MOIT) Tuesday established an emergency helpline 911 for flood-hit people across the country, ARY News reported. The flood victims have been asked to report needed assistance such as medicine or food through the national emergency helpline 911. Tens of millions of people across swathes of Pakistan were battling the worst monsoon floods in a decade, with countless homes washed away, vital farmland destroyed, and the country’s main river threatening to burst its banks. The United Nations (UN) issued a flash appeal for $160 million to help Pakistan cope with catastrophic floods that have killed more than 1,100 people and affected 33 million people. “Pakistan is awash in suffering,” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video message for the launch of the appeal in Islamabad and Geneva. Death toll from floods in Sindh climbs to 405

KARACHI: With three more fatalities in the past 24 hours, the overall death toll from floods unleashed by torrential rains surged to 405 in the province since mid-June, according to the statistics issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority. Shikarpur reported the most number of fatalities where at least 66 people lost their lives to flood-related incidents. Out of the total number of deaths, 154 were men, 69 women and 160 children, revealed the statistics. In addition to this, 1055 people suffered injuries in the flood-related incidents, the PDMA added. The PDMA report stated that approximately 305,152 houses were completely destroyed while the infrastructure of 613,321 houses was damaged. ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to issue the permit within 24 hours for importing the stocks of onion and tomato at the earliest, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The Ministry of National Food Security and Research has decided to issue import permit for onions and tomatoes within 24 hours. The ministry forwarded the recommendations to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). According to the food ministry, taxes and levies will not be imposed on the imports of onions and tomatoes. DADU: On the direction of Corps Commander Karachi, the Pakistan army Tuesday rescued stranded girl Dua and other people trapped with her in flood-hit Dadu district. LAHORE: Punjab cabinet has announced to donate one-month salary to the flood victims, ARY News reported on Monday. Khairpur: Flood affectees booked for protesting during Manzoor Wassan’s visit

KHAIRPUR: The Khairpur police on Sunday registered a first information report (FIR) against flood affectees who staged protest during Manzoor Wassan’s visit to flood-hit areas of the city, ARY News reported. LAHORE: A 10-year-old namely Maria has allegedly been raped and murdered in a private swimming pool in Lahore’s Sharifpura area in the vicinity of Manawan police station, ARY News reported on Sunday. Balochistan floods: Two more dead, tally reaches 244

QUETTA: The death toll from torrential rains and flash floods in Balochistan has risen to 244 as two more people have lost their lives during the past 24 hours, ARY News reported on Sunday. According to the latest PDMA report, 244 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Balochistan since June 1. Further, the authority said that several roads and bridges were washed away by floods. Elderly woman forced to live in rickshaw after home ruined by flood

SUKKUR: Heavy flooding across the country has damaged hundreds of houses, leaving people scrambling to find homes. People were living in tents, schools, and even under the open sky. An elderly woman in Sukkur was forced to live in a rickshaw after her house was submerged in floods. “I have no other place to live. The house was my only earning which has been ruined due to rains and floods”. The elderly woman has appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to provide her shelter. Balochistan floods: Two more dead, tally reaches 242

Quetta: Two more people have been reported dead amid heavy rains and floods in Balochistan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported. According to details, PDMA told on Tuesday that five more people were reported dead amid heavy rains and floods in the province taking the tally to 242. A total of 116 men, 55 women, and 71 children have lost their lives to floods and related incidents in Balochistan. Moreover, over 102 people suffered injuries due to floods in the past three days. A total of 1,45,936 cattle have also been reported dead in the floods, PDMA data shows. KP govt sets up relief fund for flood affectees

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan announced on Saturday establishing a relief fund for the assistance of flood-affected people, appealing to the citizens, especially the philanthropists, to generously donate to it. SWAT: Floods and landslides triggered by intense monsoon rains killed at least 15 people in Swat city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, ARY News reported on Saturday. According to details, 15 people – including women and children – lost their lives in floods and landslides triggered by intense monsoon rains in upper and plain areas of Swat. Asad Umar challenges contempt notice from ECP before SHC

KARACHI: PTI Secretary General Asad Umar on Saturday challenged a contempt notice from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Sindh High Court (SHC), terming it unconstitutional, ARY NEWS reported. In a petition filed before the high court, the PTI general secretary said that the contempt notice served to him on August 19 was against the Constitution and the ECP should be stopped from taking action until the high court decides on the matter.
