Won’t let ‘propaganda, disinformation’ harm ties with Pakistan: US

The US State Department Spokesman Ned Price once again rejected former prime minister Imran Khan’s regime change allegations, saying the United States would not let “propaganda, disinformation” get in the way of its bilateral ties with Pakistan. PM Shehbaz to embark on maiden China visit today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave on a two-day official visit to China at Premier Li Keqiang’s invitation on Tuesday, ARY News reported quoting Foreign Office (FO). It will be the prime minister’s first official visit to China since assuming office in April this year. A high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, will accompany him on the two-day tour. ISLAMABAD: A draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) was approved by the federal cabinet ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to China, citing sources, ARY News reported on Monday. LAHORE: The Punjab government has offered jobs to the daughter and husband of female reporter, Sadaf Naeem, who was crushed to death in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march, ARY News reported on Monday. According to details, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi made the job offer during meeting with the bereaved family at CM House in Lahore. ECC approves summary to import 300,000 MT wheat from Russia

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Monday approved the summary for the purchase of 300,000 MT of wheat from Russia on a government-to-government (G2G) basis. The ECC meeting was presided over by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar. The summary for the wheat import was presented by the Ministry of Commerce. The government would import 300,000 MT of specified milling wheat at $372/MT for the shipment period from 1st November 2022 to 15th January 2023. Another summary, regarding the revision of dealers’ margins on petroleum products, was presented before the ECC by the Ministry of Energy. The summary was approved after due diligence, revising the margin at Rs. 6 per litre, however, its implementation will be subject to fiscal space in petroleum prices. LAHORE: Female journalist Sadaf Naeem has been laid to rest after offering funeral prayers in Lahore’s Icchra area in the wee hours of Monday. As per details, a large number of journalists, family members of the deceased journalist and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders including Fawad Chaudhry, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Omar Sarfraz Cheema attended the funeral prayers. 4.6 magnitude earthquake jolts Kalat, surrounding areas

KALAT: An earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Kalat district of Balochistan and its adjoining areas on Sunday, ARY News reported. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that tremors were felt in Kalat and its surrounding areas on Sunday night. Felling the tremors, people came out of their houses while reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba. The depth of the earthquake was 19 kilometres and its epicentre was 45 away from Kalat southern part. No casualty was reported so far. Earlier on October 12, an earthquake of 3.9-magnitude on the Richter scale hit Khuzdar and adjoining areas. MQM-P Raabta committee members pay late night visit to Governor House

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy on Sunday demonstrated firepower in the Arabian Sea amid bilateral naval exercise NASL AL BAHR-IV conducted with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy at Karachi. The exercise comprised advanced-level naval operations, including a practical demonstration of Live Weapons Firings (LWF), said a Pakistan Navy news release. ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Moeed Pirzada has left Pakistan and reached the United Kingdom (UK) on Sunday. The senior journalist in his Vlog confirmed that he has left Pakistan and is currently in the UK. He ruled out any threats behind leaving Pakistan and said he is there for other reasons. Moeed Pirzada also said he has returned to his Vlogs after four days of a break as he was continuously traveling. PESHAWAR: Polling is underway in the NA-45 Kurram by-poll amid strict security, ARY News reported on Sunday. Man arrested for sexually assaulting two girls in Karachi

KARACHI: The police claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in sexually assaulting two minor girls in Awami Colony of Karachi’s Korangi area, ARY News reported. In a statement, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Abraiz Ali Abbasi said that the accused sexually assaulted two minor girls within two days. Two cases were registered against the accused – identified as Sabir. “The accused, even today, abducted another girl and tried to rape her,” the SSP Korangi added. Upon receiving information, Awami Colony police arrested the accused in an immediate operation. The victims were shifted to hospital for medical tests, SSP Korangi added. Machar colony incident: 37 detained by police, investigations underway

KARACHI: The Sindh police on Saturday arrested at least 37 people involved in the mob lynching of two young men in the Machar Colony area of the metropolitan, ARY News reported.  Five out of the 37 arrested are named in the case, police told.  Police officials told that the detainees are being interrogated to confirm their involvement in the incident. KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has written a letter to the Sindh government to seek its reply for the organisation of local government (LG) polls in the seven districts of Karachi, ARY News reported on Friday. The ECP stated in the letter that the commission wants to immediately hold LG polls in Sindh to fulfil its constitutional duty. The commission directed the Sindh government to submit the reply by October 31. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officials have arrested three passengers from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport who were named on the exit control list (ECL), ARY News reported on Friday. The FIA immigration officials arrested three passengers who were trying to depart for foreign countries from Karachi airport during different actions. Sources said that all three accused were named on the ECL and they were arrested while fleeing abroad.
