Karachi: CTD arrests terrorist linked to international handlers

KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a militant working for international handlers in Karachi, ARY News reported on Thursday.  According to the details, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has completed the investigation of the arrested terrorist, who made significant revelations. PEMRA urges media to boycott responsibles of May 9 violence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) PEMRA urged media to boycott those who are responsible for May 9 violence, ARY News reported. Govt reduces petrol, diesel prices

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reduced the prices of petrol, diesel and other petroleum products once again for the next 15 days, ARY News reported on Wednesday. While addressing a press conference, Ishaq Dar said that no major changes were seen in oil prices in global market. He announced the reduction in petrol price by Rs8 per litre, diesel price by Rs5 per litre and light diesel by Rs5 for the next 15 days. The new price of petrol has been reduced from 270 to Rs262 per litre, diesel from Rs258 to Rs253 per litre and light diesel from Rs152 to Rs147 per litre. No changes were made in the kerosene price which is stable at Rs164.70 per litre. Motorway corruption case: NAB arrests two more accused

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested two more accused in alleged Rs6 billion corruption in the Motorway M-6’s Naushahro Feroze-Matyari Section project, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The NAB Karachi officials arrested two more accused from Hyderabad and Sanghar in the Motorway M-6 corruption case. The arrested persons included Akhlaq Shah and Zeeshan Sehtu. Bandits robbed a policeman in Karachi

KARACHI: A shocking incident was reported from Karachi’s Port Qasim area where a police officer has been robbed by dacoits and fled from the scene, ARY News reported on Wednesday.  According to the details, some armed miscreants robbed the police officer in the Port Qasim area of Karachi and upon resisting the dacoits attacked the officer with the butt of a pistol, leaving him injured and fled. ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday stopped Parliamentary Body probing the purported audio leaks from proceedings against the former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice (retired) Saqib Nisar, ARY News reported.  The plea was taken up by IHC Justice Babar Sattar. The former top judge was summoned by MNA Aslam Bhootani, who is the chairman of the committee constituted to investigate the alleged audio. ‘67 dacoits killed during ongoing operation in Sindh Katcha area’

SUKKUR: Sindh Inspector General (IG) Police Ghulam Nabi Memon on Tuesday said that as many as 67 dacoits had been killed and another 68 arrested in the ongoing operation in Katcha area, ARY News reported.   He revealed the details while talking to journalists in Kashmore-Kandhkot district, apprising about the “success of the ongoing operation” in Katcha areas of four districts (Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kandhkot-Kashmore and Ghotki) to restore complete peace in the province. Flight makes emergency landing in Karachi as baby born mid-air

KARACHI: A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Manila made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after a pregnant passenger gave birth mid-air to a baby boy, CAA official said Tuesday. The birth took place just hours after the Qatar Airways flight took off from Manila on Monday evening and before the pilot was able to make the emergency landing in Karachi. The pilot of flight contacted Air Traffic Controller Karachi and sought permission for an emergency landing at Karachi airport, according to CAA official. The CAA spokesperson said that the mother and newly born baby was taken to hospital for medical assistance. PIA plane ‘seized’ in Malaysia over non-payment of lease dues

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft was ‘seized’ over a lease dispute at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The Beoing 777 was acquired by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on lease from Malaysia. The plane with the BMH registration number was stopped for the second time at the Kuala Lumpur airport over payment of dues worth $4 million. The company ‘seized’ the PIA plane after receiving the order from a local court after payment of dues. Rawalpindi authorities have extended the imposition of Section 144 until June 4 to avoid any untoward law and order situation, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The scope of Section 144 to prohibit all kinds of public gatherings was expanded in Rawalpindi. AJK judge shot dead over resisting house robbery

RAWALPINDI: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) session judge, Sardar Amjad Ishaq was shot dead over resisting a house robbery in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, ARY News reported. According to police, two dacoits entered the house of the AJK judge in the limits of Rawat police station and made the house members hostage at gunpoint. The robbers opened fire at the AJK judge over resisting the dacoity. The judge was rushed to hospital in injured condition, where he breathed his last. LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said Khadija Shah, the ‘prime suspect’ in the Jinnah House attack case, is currently in police custody for an identification parade, ARY News reported. Magnitude 6 earthquake jolts Rawalpindi, Islamabad, KP districts

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of magnitude 6 earthquake jolted twin cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, adjoining areas and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, ARY News reported on Sunday. Local residents out of fear and panic ran out of their homes to open space in the wee hours of Sunday morning after temblor jolted the area. Peshawar BRT service at risk of closure over funds shortage

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which caters to 300,000 commuters in the provincial capital on a daily basis, is at risk of closure over a shortage of funds. The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) authorities in a letter penned to the KP caretaker government have demanded of the government to pay the last three months’ dues worth Rs450 million for the continuation of the service. The North-South Travels (Pvt) Limited, and East-West Transport (Pvt) Limited, drew the government’s attention to the issue of the non-payment of dues. Punjab govt forms JIT to probe Jinnah House arson

LAHORE: Punjab Home Department on Saturday constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe vandalism and arson at Corp Commander House (Jinnah House) in Lahore on May 9, ARY News reported. According to a notification issued by the department, SSP Investigation Iqbal Town Aqeela Niaz Naqvi has been appointed as the convener of the JIT. Traffic police decide to launch digital challan system in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi Traffic police department has decided to launch a digital challan system and install auto number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras on different roads, ARY News reported on Friday. Karachi Traffic Police decided to modernise the challan system and impose penalties with the assistance of CCTV cameras on roads to curb traffic rule violations. RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized more than 700 kilograms of drugs in separate raids across the country, ARY News reported on Friday. According to the ANF spokesperson, a major operation was conducted near Attock Interchange, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of over two kilograms of heroin. KARACHI: In a bone chilling incident, the lifeless bodies of a woman and her child were found in Karachi’s Qaidabad area, ARY News reported on Friday.
