Ahmad Jawad resigns as PM’s focal person on digital media

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media and Technologies Ahmad Jawad on Friday resigned from his office, ARY News reported. Ahmad Jawad in his resignation said he cannot remain part of any ‘cheating’ and added that commissions are set up in our country to put the issues on the back burner. “Preparations have started for the funeral of another truth,” Ahmad Jawad said while referring to a commission formed to investigate the killing of senior journalist Arshad Sharif. PTI long march: Chaudhry Shujaat asks Pervaiz Elahi to maintain peace in Punjab

LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has asked Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi to maintain peace in the province ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march, ARY News reported. Taking to his official Twitter handle, the former premier wrote: “Being the Chief Minister of Punjab, Pervaiz Elahi has the responsibility to maintain law and order situation in the province”. PTI finalises complete schedule of Imran Khan-led long march

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised the complete schedule of the Imran Khan-led long march to be started on Friday (today) from Lahore’s Liberty Chowk, ARY News reported. The proposed schedule of PTI’s long march was completed by the party leaders. Imran Khan will stay in the Punjab capital till Friday. The long march will be formally started from Liberty Chowk, Lahore after Friday prayers. The first destination of the PTI marchers will be completed from Liberty Chowk to Shahdara Interchange on Friday night. The PTI marchers will stay the Friday at Shahdara after Imran Khan’s speech. On Saturday, the long march will be resumed to reach its next destination in Gujranwala. Pakistan condoles with Iran on loss of lives in terrorist attack

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed deep condolence over the loss of precious lives and injuries sustained in the deadly terrorist attack at a shrine in Shiraz, a city in Iran. In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson expressed solidarity with the people of Iran in this hour of grief and express profound sympathies to the families of the deceased. The spokesperson prayed for the swift recovery of those injured saying Pakistan strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Armed men attacked Shah Cheragh shrine in the Iranian city of Sheeraz on Wednesday, killing at least 15 people, state news agency IRNA said, as security forces clashed with protesters marking 40 days since the death of Mahsa Amini in custody. ACE Punjab files case against IG Islamabad

LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has registered a case against Inspector General (IG) Islamabad police Akbar Nasir Khan, ARY News reported on Wednesday. According to ACE spokesperson, the IG Islamabad police Akbar Nasir Khan was facing corruption allegations. The spokesperson added that the ACE summoned the Islamabad police chief twice but he did not appear before the investigators. Nasir Akbar Khan was accused of tampering with documents for awarding a contract, said the spokesperson, adding that the IG Islamabad will be immediately arrested after entering Punjab. Earlier in the month, the ACE Punjab had issued arrest warrants for the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader for allegedly taking bribes against the approval of a housing scheme.
