Bike-mounted anti-street crime squad activated in Karachi

KARACHI: The Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho has ordered to activate the bike-mounted anti-street crime squad in Karachi, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The AIG Javed Alam Odho directed to activate the anti-street crime squad comprising of 100 motorbikes in Karachi. All concerned officers and investigation units will carry out raids to curb street crimes, he added.

The Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) will ensure the collection of CCTV footage of street crime incidents across the metropolis.

There is a rise in street crimes in Karachi as one more citizen lost his life today. In the Liqauatabad Number 2 area, a citizen was allegedly killed by street criminals after facing resistance.

In another incident, a citizen was wounded for resisting robbery near Landhi’s Murtaza Chowrangi, whereas, a citizen was wounded by firing resorted to by dacoits near Qasba Colony’s MPR today.

IMF wants friendly countries to fund Pakistan before deal

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) wants friendly countries to honor their commitments to fund cash-strapped Pakistan before the multilateral lender signs off on a $6.5 billion bailout program, ARY News reported, citing sources. As per details, Pakistan has become active to get written assurances from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) about external financing to strike a staff-level agreement with the IMF. Sources having knowledge of the development said PM Office, the foreign ministry and the finance ministry have become active to meet the condition of the IMF for the confirmation of $3 billion in external funding from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The IMF is seeking written assurance from the executive directors of Saudi Arabia and UAE about external financing to Pakistan, the sources said. Marriyum Aurangzeb reacts to Imran Khan’s congratulatory message

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has strongly reacted to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s congratulatory message to the new COAS and CJCSC alongside sharing a Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s quote, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
