Karachi: Woman, minor girl die at flood relief camp

KARACHI: A woman and minor girl died on Thursday at a flood relief camp established in Karachi’s Malir district, ARY News reported. As per details, a 60-year-old woman and 5-year-old Maria Khoso died at flood relief camp in Malir Karachi. They were displaced from their home because of recent catastrophic floods. Both of them were shifted to a hospital after their health deteriorated, and later they were declared dead. The dead body of the woman has been shifted to Ghotki, whereas the minor girl’s dead body was shifted to Naushahro Feroze. The flood affectees complained that people are suffering from different viral diseases and the government has turned a blind eye to the situation. SC to take up contempt plea against Imran Khan on Dec 2

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) will hear a contempt of court case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Friday (tomorrow), ARY News reported. A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial will take up the interior ministry’s plea seeking contempt proceedings against PTI chief. Police arrest 14 Afghan immigrants over illegal entry in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi police on Thursday booked 14 Afghan nationals for illegally residing in the city, ARY News reported. According to details, district Central police carried out a late night operation and arrested 14 Afghan immigrants who were illegally residing in Karachi. The Afghan nationals failed to show their Pakistani citizenship and relevant travel documents, police said. Police have registered cases against the immigrants under the foreigners’ act and handed over arrested men to the investigating authorities. Soldier martyred, terrorist gunned down in North Waziristan: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ARY News reported on Wednesday, quoting the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to military’s media wing, the security forces were patrolling in the Shewa area of North Waziristan District when they came under fire from terrorists. “Pakistan Army troops fought bravely and engaged the terrorist’s location effectively,” the ISPR said. Assets case: Usman Buzdar gets extension in interim bail

LAHORE: An accountability court Wednesday extended the interim bail of former Punjab CM and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Usman Buzdar in assets case, ARY News reported. As per details, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has submitted its response in the court on interim bail in assets beyond means case. The Investigation Officer informed the court that the NAB has not yet issued arrest warrant for Usman Buzdar, therefore his arrest is not required at the moment. GHOTKI: Three persons including a woman lost their lives in a car-truck collision in Ghotki on Tuesday, ARY News reported. Internet services disrupted in Pakistan after cable cut

ISLAMABAD: Internet services faced disruptions across Pakistan on Tuesday after reports of cable cut in the International Submarine Cable AAE-1 in Egypt, ARY News reported. In a statement on Twitter, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) noted that a dual cut in the terrestrial segment of South East Asia, Middle East, Western Europe 5 — a submarine communications cable system that extends between Singapore and France — had been reported. FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police resolved the murder case of a 15-year-old TikToker Nayab after 18 days, ARY News reported on Monday. Police said that the younger brother of the slain TikToker Nayab namely Taimur turned out to be his murderer. CAA advises Turkiye-bound passengers to avoid carrying betel nuts

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Monday barred passengers traveling to Turkiye from carrying betel nuts, ARY News reported.  According to the CAA spokesperson, there is a complete ban on carrying betel nuts to Turkiye as it is considered drugs over there. MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has clinched victory on 33 seats followed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) grabbing 18 seats during the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Local Government (LG) polls, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results. Girl goes missing from Faisalabad found dead, raped

FAISALABAD: A 10-year-old girl, who went missing from Faisalabad, was found dead after being raped, said police on Sunday, ARY News reported. As per police, they received the complaint about the missing of a 10-year-old girl from Samundari. The parents said the girl was asked to buy rice from a nearby shop by her neighbor. The girl did not return home and after which her parents registered a complaint with the police. Acting on the complaint of the parents, the police swung into action and found the body of the girl on the roof of a neighbour named Aslam. The minor was allegedly raped and later killed, the police said. MUZAFFARABAD: After a long wait of over three decades, the first phase of the local government elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is underway. The polling is underway in three districts of Muzaffarabad Division — Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley and Muzaffarabad. The polling will continue till 5pm without any break. Strict security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order during the polling in AJK. Of the 1,323 polling stations, 418 have been declared ‘sensitive’ and 257 ‘most sensitive’, where three and five police personnel will be deployed, respectively. ISLAMABAD: The district administration of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has launched a seven-day anti-polio campaign in which children below the age of five years will be vaccinated. According to details, Additional Deputy Commissioner East Usman Ashraf along with District Health Officer Zaeem Zia and Director Health Services Dr Iqbal Afridi started the anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops to children under five years of age at CDA Health Centre I-8 Markaz. Speaking on the occasion, Usman Ashraf said that the campaign would continue till November 28 and polio teams and health workers would administer polio drops house to house. He said that 408,000 children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that by-polls would be held on all provincial and national assembly seats if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decides to quit all the assemblies, ARY News reported citing ECP sources.  ECP sources have said that by-polls would be held under constitutional procedure if any seats of the provincial or national assembly are vacated. There is no specific law regarding announcing general elections if a certain number of seats are vacated, they added. All seats vacated during the five-year constitutional tenure of the assemblies are filled via by-polls, they added. By-polls are not held only if the seat is vacated 4 months or less before the end of the assemblies’ tenure. Any seats vacated before that time period are filled by by-polls, the ECP sources said. KARACHI: Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Saturday announced results for the Intermediate Part-I Annual Examination 2022 pre-medical group. BIEK Chairman Dr Saeed Uddin said the total number of students who registered for this year’s exam was 24,608 out of which 24,151 appeared in the exams. The passing rate of the students remained 58.77 pc out of which 2,684 bagged the A-one grade, Dr Saeed Uddin said. LAHORE: A special court for narcotics control on Saturday granted exemption of one day to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah from drug case hearing, ARY News reported. The Court for Control of Narcotics Substances exempted Rana Sanaullah from attending the court hearing of a drug case filed against him and others. The interior minister in his plea said that he was busy with regard to the law and order situation after long march in Rawalpindi today. The special court adjourned further hearing of the case until December 03. Rana Sanaullah was arrested on July 1, 2019, by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near the Sukheki point. The ANF had claimed that 15 kilograms of drugs were recovered from his car.
