IMF staff to talk with Pakistan over targeted subsidies: Esther Pérez Ruiz

International Monetary Fund (IMF) resident representative Esther Pérez Ruiz has said that they want to discuss targeted subsidies for deserving classes in their 9th review under the EFF, ARY News reported.

Talking to ARY News the IMF representative said that as part of the 9th review under the EFF, remote discussions continue between IMF staff and the Pakistani authorities over policies to reprioritise and better target support toward humanitarian and rehabilitation needs. She added that accelerating reform efforts to preserve macroeconomic and fiscal sustainability, including continuing financial support from multilateral and bilateral partners is their goal.

Earlier on November 24, Esther Perez Ruiz said Wednesday that discussions with the Pakistan authorities are continued over policies, targeted support and fiscal sustainability.

While talking to ARY News, Esther Perez Ruiz said, “IMF staff continue discussions with the Pakistani authorities over policies to reprioritize and better target support toward humanitarian and rehabilitation needs, while also accelerating reform efforts to preserve macroeconomic and fiscal sustainability.”

Esther added that the timely finalization of the recovery plan is essential to support the discussions, along with continuing financial support from multilateral and bilateral partners.

ATC summons Imran Khan today in terrorism case

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has summoned former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at 12:00 pm in a terrorism case registered against him for allegedly threatening a female judge, ARY News reported on Tuesday. Additional session Judge Raja Hassan Jawad heard the former premier’s interim bail petition in a terrorism case registered against him for allegedly threatening a female judge in a PTI rally held on August 20.
