ATC grants interim bail to PTI’s Asad Umar

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday granted interim bail to PTI leader Asad Umar in Canal Road vandalism case, ARY News reported.

The court restrained police from arresting Umar under charges of rioting and torture on police in incidents at Lahore’s Canal Road.

The ATC approved interim bail of Umar till April 07 and ordered him to deposit Rs one lac surety bond.

Asad Umar attended the court hearing today. The PTI leader was yesterday failed to appear before the court, which had rejected his plea for interim bail.

PTI leaders Umar, Yasmeen Rashid, Farrukh Habib and others were booked by Shadman police in Lahore over vandalism charges.

Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Aslam and other party leaders yesterday appeared before the court, while Asad Umar and Farrukh Habib did not show up. ATC while extending interim bail of Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Aslam and others, rejected bail petition of Asad Umar and Farrukh Habib.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi criticises Imran Khan

NEPRA releases report on January 23 power breakdown

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has released an inquiry report on a major power breakdown in the country that took place earlier this year, ARY News reported. On January 23, several parts of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta had plunged into darkness as a high-tension electricity supply line between Quetta and Guddu caused a major power breakdown. As per the report, NTDC, Jinco Two Port Qasim Electric Power Company have been held responsible for the countrywide blackout. The Inquiry committee while highlighting the flaws in the power system said electricity generation was increased from wind power plants in the South, while in the North, hydel power generation was decreased.
