Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) has issued party tickets to the candidates ahead of the Punjab elections scheduled for May 14, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The PML-Q leadership ordered its candidates to start electioneering in their respective constituencies after issuing party tickets. The party tickets were issued by the PML-Q chief organiser Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Secretary General Punjab Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.

Chaudhry Sarwar said in a statement that the situation would be better if the government properly used the development budget of Rs2,500 billion in Punjab.

He vowed that there is no need to adopt any rocket science to change the state of the province and PML-Q will perform better after coming into power.

The chief organiser claimed that PML-Q has a strong team and they will give a surprise in Punjab. He ordered candidates to establish their election officers and also run a strong campaign on social media platforms.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that the past government did nothing for Punjab in 3.5 years. He added that his political party will contest the Punjab elections to provide alternative leadership to the nationals after the failure of the previous rulers.

NEPRA releases report on January 23 power breakdown

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has released an inquiry report on a major power breakdown in the country that took place earlier this year, ARY News reported. On January 23, several parts of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta had plunged into darkness as a high-tension electricity supply line between Quetta and Guddu caused a major power breakdown. As per the report, NTDC, Jinco Two Port Qasim Electric Power Company have been held responsible for the countrywide blackout. The Inquiry committee while highlighting the flaws in the power system said electricity generation was increased from wind power plants in the South, while in the North, hydel power generation was decreased.
