Former premier and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) central leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi criticised the PTI chief and said that the country’s situation would be worse if Imran Khan stays in power today, ARY News reported on Friday. China rolled over $2b loan to Pakistan, confirms Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the rumors about the delay in Chinese loan rollover, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that Beijing has rolled over its $2 billion loan to Pakistan for one year, ARY News reported. NEPRA releases report on January 23 power breakdown

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has released an inquiry report on a major power breakdown in the country that took place earlier this year, ARY News reported. On January 23, several parts of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta had plunged into darkness as a high-tension electricity supply line between Quetta and Guddu caused a major power breakdown. As per the report, NTDC, Jinco Two Port Qasim Electric Power Company have been held responsible for the countrywide blackout. LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday declared Section 124A of the Treason Act null and void, ARY News reported. ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was granted exemption from appearance in the Toskhana case being heard by a district and sessions court in the federal capital, ARY News reported on Thursday. Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal announced the ruling after hearing arguments from former prime minister’s legal team and prosecutor Amjad Parvez. During the hearing, the PTI chief’s lawyer filed an exemption plea for three days and argued that the Islamabad bar was holding protests for three days. Amjad Parvez said that it was must for the suspect to ensure his attendance in court during the trial. Lakki Marwat: Four cops including DSP martyred in terror attack

LAKKI MARWAT: At least four policemen, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were martyred and six others were wounded when terrorists attacked Lakki Marwat’s Saddar police station, ARY News reported.  As per details, terrorists along with heavy weapons attacked Saddar police station injuring five cops. SC defers hearing of suo motu cases, constitutional petitions

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has deferred the hearing of suo motu cases and other constitutional petitions under Article 184(3) till the formulation of rules, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Justice Qazi Faez Isa-led three-member bench of the Supreme Court gave its ruling in a suo motu case related to awarding 20 additional marks to the Hafiz-e-Quran students for medical admission. As per the 9-page ruling written by Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the hearing of all cases under Article 184(3) was deferred until the formulation of rules by the parliament. He stated in the ruling that the Constitution and rules barred the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) from constituting a special bench. LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former SAPM Shahbaz Gill to travel to the United States (US) for four weeks, ARY News reported. A three-member bench headed by the LHC chief justice heard Gill’s petition filed against the inclusion of his name in the Exit Control Lists (ECL). ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday resumed hearing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition against delay in general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ARY News reported. Pakistan removed from EU’s High-Risk Third Countries list

ISLAMABAD: The European Commission has removed Pakistan from the list of its “High-Risk Third Countries”, Federal Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar announced late Tuesday. In his Twitter post, Naveed Qamar said “EU has removed Pakistan from the List of High-Risk Third Countries. IMF wants friendly countries to fund Pakistan before deal

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) wants friendly countries to honor their commitments to fund cash-strapped Pakistan before the multilateral lender signs off on a $6.5 billion bailout program, ARY News reported, citing sources. As per details, Pakistan has become active to get written assurances from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) about external financing to strike a staff-level agreement with the IMF. LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) issued a notice to the Zaman Park administrator – the residence of PTI chief Imran Khan in Lahore – after receiving the complaint of alleged electricity theft, ARY News reported on Monday. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday released the party position after re-poll results in 15 districts of Sindh during LG polls, ARY News reported.  The polling in the first and second rounds of local bodies’ elections was stopped in various districts of Sindh. After re-poll in the remaining constituencies, the ECP on Monday issued a party position. According to the ECP, the Pakistan People’s Party has the upper hand in 7 out of 11 seats of the district member while the PPP has won 10 out of 16 seats of the chairman and vice chairman. Islamabad police have finalised a plan to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers during former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrival in the federal capital, ARY News reported, citing sources.  As per details, the persons wanted during March 18 protests will likely be arrested by Islamabad police for which teams have been given tasks. Pakistan reports 106 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: In last 24 hours 106 cases of COVID-19 reported in country and a patient of the disease died, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Sunday. According to the NCOC, positivity ratio of the disease remained 2.52 in the country. In last 24 hours 4,213 Covid-19 tests conducted and 106 of them found positive, the NCOC shared in a statement. “A patient of the coronavirus died in last 24 hours,” according to the NCOC. “Twenty-two Covid patients have been in a precarious condition in the country.” The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) recently recommended wearing masks at crowded and tightly enclosed spaces and healthcare facilities. NAWABSHAH: The Nawabshah airport has been closed for flight operations for two months, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said Sunday. According to the notification issued here, the airport will remain closed until May 23. The closure is due to a geotechnical study that needs to be carried out at the airport, it added. As a result, only helicopters will be able to land and take off at the Nawabshah airport until May 23.
